Author block in gutenberg

I’m using WordPress 6.1.1 and a stripped down basic block theme. I can’t code, but I can follow directions.

I put the ‘post author’ block into the post template, but except for displaying the author name and a space for an avatar there is nothing. No link, no block setup options. I’d assumed it would generate a link to a generic author search page, which I found template options for. But it doesn’t.

What I really want is to make the author name link to their profile / about page, which I can set up with a template that will pull a blurb the author can enter in their profile and then a query block that will pull the authors posts.

Any thoughts or advice on how to do this?
