Best practice advice: Pages, Archive pages and URLs

[ad_1]

Hi all, I was hoping I could get some best practice advice on using static pages with CPTs.

Objective: Use static pages instead of Archive Pages so I have more flexibility to design them and the structure of the content on the pages.

1. I have a custom post type called “Biases”.
2. The CPTs would have no Archive page.
3. The url for single pages would be [www.xxx.com/biases/xxx])
4. Instead of having an Archive page at [www.xxx.com/biases]) I would create a static page there instead.

My reason for doing it this way is:

1. From a use point of view, I want a page at [www.xxx.com/biases]) which feels logical and offers navigation into that area of the site.
2. Archive pages are too restrictive in what they offer and how easily I can edit them.

I’m just wondering, is this an acceptable way to manage permalinks etc? Am I committing some sort of cardinal sin? Or is this fairly standard?

Thanks so much in advance for any feedback! 🙂
