Best practice for redesign, keep the main site together with woocommerce? If so, what’s a good navigation?

As a sort of follow up question to my previous post, I’d like insight from you guys.

My site is one part about the services that I offer and the other part a woocommerce store. I already had trouble giving the site a clear navigation, as I want users to quickly find the services but I also like to have the product categories as menu items. What are your recommendations or even examples?

I’m at the point that I really want to redesign the site. It was made with Divi theme and builder (well the services part, almost nothing woocommerce related was made in Divi apart from the ‘shop front page’). It doesn’t seem very straightforward to keep the live site running, creating the staging and then pushing without losing the current Woocommerce data. One way to circumvent this, is creating a separate site for the shop on a subdomain. Would that something you’d recommend? I know it won’t be good for SEO.

edit I have no trouble providing the URL but it’s all in Dutch, don’t know if that is meaningful.

  1. I like to avoid subdomains because it seems like pages rank better when they are pages. It’s been argued that this is because sub domains are treated like separate websites.

For navigation, maybe go with two header bars.

The primary menu could be all the shop categories and then maybe put a list of services in a separate menu.

For example, here’s one I built that’s kind of what I’ thinking.

has HOME, BLOG, FAQ, ABOUT and then a menu separate with things about services. They’re consolidated on mobile.
