Best practices for changing format of all pictures on a WP site?

[ad_1]

So I’ve made a WordPress for a tour guiding service I’m launching. Problem is towards the very end of making it I’m realizing it runs slow, and according to google page speed insights a huge part of that is that I’m using jpeg and not a ‘next gen’ image format. So I’d like to change every picture to WebP, but the best method I can think of is to delete my entire image library, reupload it as WebP, and re-insert all the pictures. Is that an obtuse way to go about this? Is there a tool that can make the process easier?
