I’m just getting back into WordPress work after taking a few years off. I’ve been using LocalWP by Flywheel, and I’m also using FlyWheel for my first big project since getting back to WP. So far, it has worked great; especially the ability to push changes from my local dev to production. I’m not delving into the PHP code or anything too sophisticated yet, just using Oxygen builder and AutomaticCSS to build a site locally.
But, I’d like to look into alternatives, both for hosting and for local development work, which brings up a question; what are the current best practices from moving a locally hosted WP project to a hosting service? I’ve seen some plug-ins, like All-in-One WP Migration, which I assume requires you to install a fresh install of WP on your host, install the plugin and overwrite the fresh install with the exported copy? Are there any other options? I’ve seen some folks using git, but since I’m not doing anything with code right now, I have to imagine this would be overkill for me.
Also, once you have your local version “live” on your host, do you pretty much just abandon work on the local instance and focus only on the hosted version of the site? I’m hoping to come up with a fairly robust workflow that doesn’t overcomplicate my fairly simple needs.

thanks!
