Hi all,
I’m looking to start freelancing with a focus on WordPress development. I have basic web development skills (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) but I’m new to WordPress.
What are the best resources (free and paid) to learn WordPress? Any tips on building a portfolio and finding initial clients would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Youtube Is the best Tutor I also learned myself from there a lot
Start from:
* https://learn.wordpress.org/course/beginner-wordpress-user/
* https://learn.wordpress.org/course/intermediate-wordpress-user/
and move into:
* https://learn.wordpress.org/course/beginner-wordpress-developer/
Advanced level:

You have here a lot of free tutorials (textual and video) for beginners on the following [link](https://new.reddit.com/r/WordPress_org/comments/147qits/wordpressfriendly_trainings_for_beginners/). I tried to collect and sort as many as possible for our clients that want to know and do more.

Tips for finding clients: You can check Fiverr, Upwork, Reddit, and twitter or you can contact potential clients directly and offer special discounts or offers for themes.
Good luck!
I bought this course on Udemy for £15, easily worth the money. https://www.udemy.com/share/101BN03@7gckvrKSesz0mv7TzQJRZfaOWRlsxEYqm2XZaxBUd-OiAGXCV6hur31Utpy5w4bdDg==/
You should be able to learn everything you need on YouTube.
Finding clients on the other hand, is a different story. There are a ton of people providing WordPress-driven solutions and more pup up every day. Still, many websites are in bad shape so you could find your fist customers by analyzing their website and offering them a deal to fix or improve.
