Best way to make a client portal? (without subscription costs)

I want a basic client portal on my site.

client A goes to /client-area/ and they get all the documents and invoices related to client A

client B goes to /client-area/ and they get all the documents and invoices related to client B

That’s all I want. Just one page, where I can add the documents, and the client only sees their own once they log in.
