I have a client WordPress site using Elementor (free version)
The website has events that I have been manually adding to a specific page as text and images, but the volume of these events has become significant and I want to (I think I want to) use posts to add the events to the site so I can query them in different places like the events page, the home page maybe, and other areas.
I have no experience with custom post types and am trying to learn how to use them – I think this makes the most sense for what I am trying to do but I am not really sure. I’ve been reading around and everyone seems to use custom post types for different things and have yet to come across an example similar to my use case. I’m open to suggestions on the best way to handle this.
I have downloaded ACF Pro plugin and created a bunch of fields with all the information each event will need (event poster, date, location, more details). I am not sure how to query these onto the pages I want with Elementor.
Because I’m using Elementor free version, and not Pro, I can’t query posts by category with Elementor. This is possible with Pro but this website is for a client and they do not want to add a subscription to their site so I am looking for a way around this.
I want to be able to style how the post cards display on the page. If ACF is the wrong thing to use or I need another plugin to be able to style these using Elementor free version I am open to suggestions. Any and all help is appreciated!

You said you can’t query by category, but can you query by post type using Elementor free? If so, do that.
If not, you have a couple options:
1. Write your own custom elementor blocks that query your events and display them how you like.
2. Use another plugin like The Events Calendar. That will create a custom post type for your events, an events page, and some blocks for displaying those events which I think would be compatible with elementor.
