So I've been wanting to learn WordPress for years but have come to the conclusion that, because of my learning disability, I need a structured course to do so. I've looked at courses on places like Udemy and such, but the ones I've found seem to be old and mostly abandoned by their instructors. I want an instructor I can ask questions to, since last time I tried learning WordPress I got stuck in the set-up phase trying to figure out some basic stuff that wasn't explained well enough for me in the documentation, and I couldn't find a clear answer online. Clearly I'm kind of dumb and require hand-holding.
Things I know (or used to):I already know HTML and CSS pretty well. I know basic Git. I used to know a little JavaScript and Python but it's been like 5 or 6 years since I've used any real programming languages. I'll refresh myself on them if I need to.
Edit: btw I'm on a Mac, which IIRC was part of what gave me trouble in the setup phase.
Any advice?

12 years ago, I’m in the same situation here.
I need to learn WP & programming. So my solution is create a WP blog, online forum & E-Commerce store for myself and learn by trying WP by myself.
I asked dump questions in different forums & waiting for answers. Tried mistakes again & again. Deleted / switched my servers multiple times.
Also read [WordPress.org](http://WordPress.org) support forum & tried to answers others questions in friendly way. Some times, it may be mistakes. But others help me by pointing the errors in same thread. Also tried to read questions and answers in Reddit & Stack Overflow etc.
Tried to note down the information I have collected as blog posts in my simple English with enough grammar & spelling mistakes.
But within 6 months, I started to understand whole things. My blog was growing & I can help others by answering. That inspire me to learn & answer more questions.
After 1 year of self learning, I just joined an organisation as WordPress developer.
So my suggestion is try it yourself. Ask your all questions in forums & community.
I just share WP official support forum link also here to get additional help.

Learning WordPress can indeed be a bit tricky, especially if you’re looking for a more interactive learning experience. While I can’t speak to specific courses, I’d suggest finding a tutor or a course that offers active support. It’s less about being “dumb” and more about finding the right learning environment for you.On a technical note, using ServBay for setting up your local WordPress environment could be a game-changer. It’s user-friendly and works well on Macs, which might help you avoid some of the setup issues you’ve encountered before. Plus, it’s a free tool that could give you the stable base you need to learn without extra frustration.Remember, everyone learns at their own pace, and having a structured course with an instructor who’s responsive to questions can make all the difference. Keep exploring and don’t give up! You’ve got this
A teacher who is going to answer every students question… no clue … think you might have to do this like everything else on the internet… google around until you sort it out, luckily it’s almost always quick and easy with WP
Fine a community college (or whatever vocational education is called in your country) they offered WordPress courses and attend that. Should be online options too. Smash cleared with a teacher/lecturer.
I don’t learn well online solo either. Small classes helped me a lot.
you’re not going to find a one on one teacher to student interaction unless you’re going to college, or paying for such personal coaching.
the thing about wordpress is that there are tons of ways to approach building a website with it, which also makes it difficult to pick a good teacher. you have all kinds of pre-made themes, builders, and custom theme development, and it probably won’t be of much benefit to learn everything, because it’s going to be very time-consuming.
you can learn wordpress itself, and then take things from there, in which case wordpress.org has its own website for learning how the platform works.
macos is a very good platform for working with wordpress. localwp is a one step setup system for managing a local wordpress installation for practicing or working on sites.
