After looking at related json error posts ([1]), [2]), [3]) here and trying to troubleshoot myself, here’s to hoping that someone can possibly spot an easy solution to my page publishing error of:
“Updating failed. The response is not a valid JSON response”.
I was just trying to add a simple html signup form onto a page and have now been trying to troubleshoot this error for hours, and my tech skills are almost non-existent. I deactivated all of my plugins while following this [WP Beginner]) guide and tried to publish the page with the html code and got the same error, so it doesn’t seem to be a plugin issue.
When I found my [htaccess file in Bluehost’s cpanel]), the file was completely blank. You can see there’s also two other htaccess files in the screenshot. I have also “Saved Changes” under the Permalinks settings, as another recommended troubleshoot. Following that same WP guide, [I pasted in their code]) to the htaccess file, saved it, and still get the error when publishing. Now I just have an htaccess file that looks like that screenshot, and it doesn’t seem to change or update, I don’t know if it’s supposed to.
Under my Site Health it notes that my “[301 .htaccess redirect is not enabled]”, and I have the “Really Simple SSL” which offers it as an option. Once I re-setup all of my plugins I can try to enable that if recommended. Any advice would be hugely appreciated as I’m tearing my hair out and possibly wrecking my site files by trying to solve this json error.
Edit: in the final screenshot of site health, it mentions that not all security headers are installed. Clicking that takes me to [ReallySimpleSSL’s page]), telling me how to paste a bunch of code into the .htaccess file. Should I be doing this? Thanks for any help here.
