I have a personal/hobby website which I started two months ago, but I don’t want to use two services for a single website. Sorry in advance if I get some terms confused.
So I bought my domain on May 3rd from Namecheap. I had to pay a premium fee because it is a short URL, so it was about $100 in total for a year.
On the same day I also got a WordPress account with Explorer plan ($100 but it includes one domain for a year) to make things easier for blogging. I knew I had to wait 60 days to be able to transfer it but I managed to connect everything – namecheap redirects to WordPress, website works, WordPress handles everything brilliantly.
Technically I should be able to transfer everything to WordPress. WordPress supports Namecheap transfer, it supports .page websites, 60 days have passed… But whenever I go to the Domains tab and try to claim / transfer my domain, I get a **”This domain is already mapped to a WordPress.com site”** error; If I go on the other page where I input the authorization code I get: **”<website> is already connected to this site and cannot be transferred to WordPress.com.”**
I don’t think I’ve transferred my domain already because 60 days have only just passed, and I unlocked the domain on Namecheap only an hour ago. I’ve looked through the WordPress support pages but they didn’t help my problem.
Do I need to wait more? Does my WordPress plan not support my domain because it was a Premium domain? Am I going to have to keep Namecheap as the registrar?
