Bug help: All anchor tags disappear from DOM on mobile site

[ad_1]

Hey everyone,

I’m currently trying to fix a live client site where we’re getting a breaking issue that has seemingly come from nowhere.

**All of the anchor tags disappear on mobile view, whether they’re in a text block or a button. In a desktop browser (Chrome or Firefox), I can inspect an anchor element and see it in the DOM inside of a containing div and click on it to navigate around the site, but when I set the screen to mobile and inspect again, I only see an empty containing div. Strangely, the text inside the anchor tag is still visible on the page, it just can’t be clicked or tapped.**

This is a [WordPress.org]) site hosted on Flywheel.

So far I’ve tried flushing the server and site caches and corrected one minor JS error, but no resolution. I’m currently searching for a possible CSS media query that applies to anchor tags on mobile, but I haven’t found anything yet.

There are several plugin updates that need to be done. That’s not typically my responsibility, and the person who’s responsibility it is doesn’t like to have their toes stepped on. I know a common strategy is to disable all plugins and see if it fixes the issue and then systematically reactivate until you find the problem child. I will definitely do that, but I thought I would see if this is some super simple thing that there is a fast fix for.

Has anyone experienced this kind of bug before? Any insight is greatly appreciated.

**UPDATE:** The problem is being caused by WPBakery Page Builder plugin, which needs updating. Working on getting the license info to update now. Thanks to everyone who read the post. Will update the post again to say if the plugin update fixes it.
