Building a site on WP while the intended Domain is still used on WIX

Hello all. I am moving my online course site from WIX to WP.
The moving of data etc is straight forward but my issue is how do I put a WP install on my server and build the site on ‘mysite . com’ while ‘mysite .com’ is still being used on WIX. I want to do build the site and then smoothly migrate everyone over and then point to the new host. Any ideas?
