  2. You could use WordPress and WooCommerce to sell the courses and an LMS like Moodle for the courses themselves.

  3. I’m currently deployed on a similar project where React (material design lib ) for frontend is used and WordPress as CMS. It’s not completely headless.

  4. I’ve used both LearnDash and TutorLMS. LearnDash is way better than Tutor. Tutor only caused us issues a couple years ago and have only used LearnDash since.

  5. Building a Udemy look-a-like is possible BUT in the unlikely event that the project takes off, WP will not do in the long run.

    Just in case there is a budget for advertising (several 100000 Dollars, especially in the first year) the owner will not be happy to start over with a proper custom-coded or RoR solution because those who had to go that route, lost most the the registered accounts when they moved from WP to ?.

    If you get the go-ahead, make sure that you buy some server “muscle” because online learning sites need much more server RAM than casual websites.
