Building WordPress site using only the blocks builder

[ad_1]

Hey, I am a software dev but have no praticai experience creating WordPress sites. Just hanged around loading themes and etc. Now I started to read the tutorials on WordPress.org and they recommend to build WordPress pages using the new block editor.

Is it a good idea? Should I be looking in otherr solutions. My idea is to start building high quality “clean” and “optimized” themes that I could use or sell later. If for it I would have tk start building my own blocks and plugins I am down for it.

  1. I’m learning WordPress now.

I plan to build a site using the new default theme/tools. I experimented with some different themes, but decided to stick with stock. I don’t want to be dependent on large amounts of plugins to do every task.

I can’t tell you if it’s a good idea or not yet, as I just decided yesterday. I struggled a bit at first, but then something clicked. The reason I struggled is that I was helping someone with a website built with proprietary tools, and my mind was polluted by a poor system.

I’m thinking the same way – perhaps build my own plugins for reuse or potential sale. It seems that our intentions are similar.

  2. Yeah, if you want to build clean fast optimized themes from scratch, utilize the core blocks editor. get proficient at using what already exists, and then delve into creating your own block and plugins.

I just did a full custom theme build for one of my clients, moving their ancient site onto Gutenberg for the builder. From start to finish, it took less than 2 working days to build out, meet all of their requirements and launch.

Post launch initial test, prior to any mitigation for loading/optimization: [Peep these speed test results](https://gyazo.com/20a35407d00e0b4d50810d270f9b6d7c)
