Caching and/or speed plugins cause me to lose padlock – feedback appreciated

[ad_1]

Hi guys, maybe some of you techier than me could answer this question:

I recently finished up a site and migrated it into a hosting platform of the client’s choice. After moving if off of my hosting and onto his, the site got slow as fuck. I have advised the client that his choice of hosting is probably part of the problem. Anyway, to fix the problem:

I tried a caching plugin (W3 Total Cache), and separately also tried the 10Web Booster plugin, which I’ve had success with in the past. Both plugins (in individual tests, not together) speed up the site. However, both plugins also cause the website to lose it’s padlock.

I don’t see any problems with the SSL on the hosting side. I also don’t see any problems with it in WordPress. When I deactivate the plugins the padlock comes back immediately.

Any suggestions as to what might be causing this? Sorry if this is an elementary question as I am more of an SEO and marketing guy than a developer.

Thanks.
