Can I add 410 status codes to duplicate pages without a plugin?

[ad_1]

I’m currently on the free WordPress plan for my blog. I changed some of the urls on the published pages and now GSC shows me I have duplicate pages (with the older ones showing 404).

The best way to get rid of the outdated addresses would be probably to replace 404 with 410 code – but can I even do that on a free plan?

I looked at the Creator paid plan but the thing is, I don’t need most of the things in the paid plans, it’s a pretty niche page. And buying a plan for a month just for a couple of SEO updates is probably not worth it (would the changes even stick after the downgrade to free plan?).
