Hey @kundanmnnit,
Thank you for using Yoast SEO and for reaching out!
In order to have your stories in your sitemap, make sure that “Show Stories in search results?” is set to Yes under Yoast SEO → Search Appearance → Content Types (tab) → Stories.
If that is the case, it will show up in your main sitemap /sitemap_index.xml and only this one needs to be submitted to Google Search Console – see
So does that mean I won’t have to submit another sitemap just for the web stories? My blog is one year old, and I submitted the sitemap before, but today I started to work on web stories, so I thought I had to submit the web stories sitemap differently.
Hey @kundanmnnit,
Indeed, as long as index_sitemap.xml is submitted to your Google Search Console account and the relevant function is set to “On”, Google will find new/old/updated sub-sitemaps referenced in the index sitemap. Your /web-story-sitemap.xml will be found.
No need to take further action.
You’re most welcome.
I’m gonna go ahead and mark the topic as resolved. Have a great day!
