Good afternoon,
I used WordPress a long time ago, and I am transitioning from Front End Developer to WordPress Developer. I have experience using HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, TailwindCSS, JavaScript, React, Figma, GitHub, etc. I don’t have experience using PHP, but I know that I can learn it quickly. However, my main question is: can I host an e-commerce website made with WordPress for free? If so, how can I do it?
I have built static WordPress websites and hosted them on Netlify for free, but an e-commerce website does not work, and I want to continue building new projects to show employers or future customers my skills.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Regards,

With hosting you get what you pay for for the most part.
My agency has recently decided that the WordPress.com model goes against what we believe WordPress is and was meant to be on a fundamental level. Going forward, we’ll price match WordPress.com’s Explorer paid tier, and offer creator level of unrestricted access with all of the capabilities WordPress should have when self hosted – all sites will also get direct access to 24/7 server support team chat.
So, 8/month billed annually at 96/year – not sure it gets much better for managed hosting. Only catch is bring your own domain. We’re also a registrar if you want to purchase through us, but we don’t care where the domain is registered.
