So, I reread the instructions and created a new app, this time leaving it development.
This time I got the authorization screen instead of the “Something went wrong error” but when I clicked the button to authorize it then redirected me back to wp-admin to the area for a different plugin on my site. If I try to import an event I get an unauthorized error, if I try to authorize again with facebook, I end up back in the area for an unrelated plugin in wp-admin. How can I fix this?

Sorry for the inconvenience, You need to follow the steps given here and create FB and authorize it. Mostly you are missing some steps so the issue is happening. Can you please contact us on our support with screenshots etc so we can check and help you resolve it?
