Cannot change CSS rule for posts page

[ad_1]

Hello there,

I want to change the text color in the top menu to black, but only on the posts page (the blog). This used to be possible through custom classes and custom css but it seems WordPress has gotten more restrictive, unless I’m missing something.

What I have tried so far:

– The Extra CSS is global so I can’t use it for a single page. There are no selectors for the menu that are not the same for all pages, as it seems.
– I tried the plugin Post/Page specific Custom CSS, but for some reason the changes are not registered. Other custom CSS plugins do not offer you do work with a single page.
– Plugins that allows you to add classes only allow it for the body, on all pages. I cannot find an alternative.
– Elementor used to allow you to add custom classes, I think. But the posts page cannot be edited with elementor (this is Astra theme) so it wouldn’t be an option regardless.
– An alternative to making the menu text black could be to make the menu background black, but then I must be able to hide it behind the hero image on all other pages. I tried this with z-index, but for some reason it does not work.

This used to be a simple thing to do. I hope someone can help.
