Can’t edit one of the website’s pages

[ad_1]

Hi! I’m new to WordPress but lately I had to make some changes to my employer’s website and I think I broke something down. It’s an old standalone version that has been running on their server for ages without updates.

At first I was editing it just fine and then the main page suddenly became impossible to edit. When I open it with the editor, I just see the button “edit with default editor” and the “revisions” tab underneath. I don’t see the contents of the page in the editor anymore, even though they do show up when you open the page itself directly in the browser.

The “edit with default editor” button doesn’t do anything to this page, and neither does the “screen options” one in the upper right corner. When I try to open this page with the Gutenberg editor, I get the error 500.

All the other pages on the website work fine. Moreover, I tried making a copy of the main one – after it became invisible and uneditable – and the copy has all of its contents and works fine too.

Has anyone dealt with issues like this? What might cause this?
