Alright, so i’ve been frustrated for the past month and a half and i can’t, for the life of me, find a solution for this. This will be a longer post with a detailed explanation of what is going on, it is not a basic css / html question, i was never hacked so its a genuine question that I do not have an answer to.
1) The theme is Pennews
2) I’ve decided to create a news website with a static homepage which should (for obvious reasons) get updated whenever i post a new article. It should automatically appear on the home page, right, that totally makes sense?!
3) However that does not happen, I’ve published and released many articles (test articles) and for some reason only a first few appear, whenever I push a new one nothing happens. They do show up on a blog page (list of latest blogs) but not on my homepage.
What have i tried so far:
1) Playing with “reading” settings, i tried all possible combinations, I even allowed wp bakery builder to edit and customise blog page thinking that will help – however, it did not, i just lost the original / real blog page as it was.
2) For those asking – i have completely configured my queries – i set them according to date -> descending date (which means it should filter / show latest posts first) and i’ve selected the category I want him to fetch the articles from) -> this works perfectly he knows what to pull, and its flawless.
3) I’ve tried Ajax filtering -> it adds a filter button, you can click on it and only then it will work – it will filter and show latest articles -> but this is not what I need i don’t want potential readers to have to click on a button it makes 0 sense to do that.
4) In the past things have been updating when i change the name of the homepage and then update the page. Aka, go to “pages” find home page, make a small change -> click update -> things do show sometimes but not always. So sometimes in a category i might have only 4 posts, it shows 4 posts in homepage, but when i add new one and to the process mentioned above – i end up with those same 4 posts +1 post that is a copy of the previous 4 posts and it takes me to that old post instead of a new one.
5) Some might say its cache -> this theme has some kind of an automatic cache protection, i’ve disabled caching for query settings -> i also turned it on, this did not help at all. I did install probably 5 different caching plugins (to clear cache, stop caching) that did not help at all.
6) I went through all the theme settings, i clicked on absolutely every button imaginable to test and see and it simply did not help at all.
7) I simply refuse to pay 50$ again in order to have support available to me, it is impossible that something like this simple cannot be figured out by someone (I am clearly dumb enough not to know what the issue might be).
I did get one web developer involved who isn’t into WP that much – but he told me that this is a dumb issue and there must be some kind of button or something else.
So let me ask clear questions:
1) Is this even possible with static homepage?
2) If its not possible, what is my latest post page and how can i customise it?
3) Is what i am trying to achieve out of the ordinary?
