Which one is the best and why?
Pods now has repeater function which means that it can complete with ACF I believe? And it is free
ACF is paid but the pro version can be taken from Girhub
Custom Field Suite is Free
Metabox is free bare bone but premium extensions can be purchased
Carbon Fields is also free

I’m a Carbon Fields guy all day. It’s just what I’ve always used, and I love it deeply.

Pods is probably the most feature-rich ‘free’ solution, with a lot of active installations.
ACF is the gold standard and worth the premium price. Saves so much time. I use it to build custom blocks.
I have been using Toolset for years and it does everything I need.
