Change XYZ.com/wordpress to XYZ.com/newname? | WordPress.org

6.22 self hosted, WP site built, but not online yet.

Hi all. I’ve looked up and found many different sites and explanations on how to redirect whole URLs for a WP site, but I’m wondering if what I’m asking for can be accomplished more simply within WP.

This site is self hosted and not online yet, just started building it the last few days. The URL presently looks like:

URL.com/wordpress

as the default after installation.

I just want to change the name after the slash from “wordpress” to a different name. I don’t need to change the dot com portion of the address. My question is, what is the simplest method for doing that, or is it the same as any other redirect method already documented out there?

Thanks for your help.
