Changed my WordPress name servers to my hosting site (hostgator) and now my site is only showing the default template

[ad_1]

I am a wordpress noob. First website i am ever building. I designed about 70% of my site and thought that I should buy hosting. Heard hostgator is cheap and reliable so I got that. After changing the DNS/name server to the one hostgator provided, my site that I designed is nowhere to be found on my wordpress dashboard, just the default template provided by hostgator.

I now know I shoudlve downloaded my wordpress site zip file, but I did not…

Hostgator customer service said that if I can recover the zip file, I can download that and continue designing.

Did I lose my site completely? Is there any way to download the site zip file from before?

Appreciate any help!

  1. You built your website on WordPress.com. changing nameservers changes the server. You will need to transfer the website to the new server but if you used WordPress.com you are f-ed and you most probably have to rebuild it. Change your nameservers back and try to create a backup.
