Yesterday I successfully had chat-gpt write a simple plugin for me. Its a tool that uses shortcodes to display a dynamic phone number based on UTM parameters. Its sole purpose is to track calls from different marketing efforts.
I manage the websites at a small marketing agency and I am by no means a WordPress developer (though im slowly trying to learn php and js)
Has anyone else tried using chat-gpt for plugin or theme development? Have you had success? What sort of plugins themes or other tools have you built with chat-gpt?

There are a variety of factors that go into writing well developed code that range from maintainability, extensibility, performance, security and much more.
If you are just starting out and you are using tools like ChatGPT to generate code, you could inadvertently introduce unintended bugs that have a serious negative impact e.g. privacy breach, data breach, unavailability.
Like with most things, it takes knowledge and experience to do something well and AI is far from perfect (at least until we have Skynet)
