Do you have the Classic Editor plugin active?
If so, please deactivate and delete it.
WordPress’s Block Editor has a Classic Block which will provide the same functionality.
Dear James, Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. I was in a panic for a while there. I did check, but no, I deleted the Classic Editor plugin ages ago. I saw the Classic Editor block but must have clicked in error somehow…What I had trouble doing, even after I finally twigged, was deleting those couple of pieces that were in Classic mode. They were like the Energizer bunny and kept coming back. I cleared the cache, and that may have cleared it, I suspect. I appreciate your support. Thank you.
