I see the following pattern on a lot of blogs: Suppose my site is [example.com]) and I have a post [example.com/my\_post]). In this post, I want to link to an external webpage, e.g. [other-site.com/something-interesting]). A lot of blogs are set up so that the link is actually [example.com/go/interesting]), and when you click on it, it sends you on to the other site. I’d like to start doing this because I have certain external links that appear frequently in my post, and it’d be nice to have one place to change if I ever need to update the link.
What is this called? I thought maybe ‘external link redirect’, but Googling that didn’t turn up anything. Is there a good plugin? I have a plugin called Redirection, but that seems more designed for when things move around on my website, not this external scenario.
Thank you!

Download the “re-direct” plugin. It lets you do exactly that.

Source: I have done it, and it works
The Pretty Links plugin will do this as well, which I’ve used for years: https://wordpress.org/plugins/pretty-link/
