Client wants me to make edits to their WordPress site – I need guidance.

So essentially I was misled into picking up this project – my client told me it was “A website built with HTML, CSS and Javascript” and it just needs 15-20 edits, so I thought, oh great that should be super easy!

They failed to mention it was on WordPress and utilizing a wordpress theme and plugins.

I’ve never used WordPress. However, I am a full stack dev and understand JS, CSS and various frameworks….Before I decline I wanted to at least give it a try and ask for guidance first.

Am I going to realistically be able to figure out WordPress and make 18-20 edits (small stuff like changing logos, adding mobile menu, etc) in a week? I’m thinking not, but I’m perfectly capable of coding outside website builders (even other CMS) but never wordpress… So, does WordPress offer any way for me to edit the source code? Or am I out of my league here?

Apologies if this sounds idiotic, I am just hoping for a clear answer to this unexpected problem.
