Ajax add to cart on the product page is not standard WooCommerce behavior. As you have mentioned, you need to use a plugin to enable it.
Unfortunately, our free version of the plugin has never worked with Ajax add to cart (as described in the plugin’s description page) as it follows only WooCommerce standards. If it worked in the past, that is either coincidence or because the ajax plugin integrated in some way.
Our paid version does work with Ajax add to cart as we have a larger feature-set in that version.
