Completely new to CMS, unsure what the current drama means.

Hello all,

I recently found myself in need of making an own website after I had a little falling-out with Squarespace. As far as I looked into it, using WordPress and paying for Hosting seems cheaper in the end than paying for Squarespace.

The only problem is, right when I was about to start building my own website, there seems to be some drama within the WordPress community due to some things the CEO said. I tried reading information about it, but frankly, a lot of it goes over my head. I am not sure what the current discussion means for the future of WordPress. I'm also not sure if it's still a safe option to go with, or if looking for a different alternative is in my best interests right now?

Any opinions are appreciated!

  1. let’s put it this way: wordpress is so strong that the ones against it are desperately trying to be accepted again.

in short: yes, of course it’s a safe option

  2. You’ll be fine. I’m building a new site in WP at the moment and have zero worries.

WP isn’t a platform that can disappear over night. It’s been around for 20 years at this points it’s going nowhere fast.

  3. WordPress itself is still a very strong, maintained, and popular solution. Even with the current antics and the situation I don’t see it going anywhere. So feel free to use it learn and join the community its bigger than 1 person or even a 1 company.

  4. WordPress is a strong CMS.

The drama is just a loud minority who are upset they don’t their way and resort to harassing anyone who stands up to them.

    WordPress isn’t going anywhere.
