New to WordPress and am trying to create a website with parent/child pages. I started building through Appearance -> Editor, but soon found the “pages” tab on the left. Are these meant only to be subpages? What have I been editing so far exactly? I chose the Blank Canvas template and just got to work, on the top it says “Index”, which I’m assuming is the home page?
I’ve also recently installed the Elementor plugin, does that mean I have to restart if I don’t want any of my existing blocks to break or be incompatible with Elementor blocks? Any advice is appreciated!

Play around. You’ll figure it out.
Pages are for static pages the won’t change much.
Posts are traditionally blog posts.
If you install elementor you can still add content via posts/pages, or enter it via the elementor editor. Pick one or the other, it’ll be easier in the long run.
