Contact form names seem weird but emails don’t. Spam?

[ad_1]

I have an email newsletter form. Entries come through with “names” that are just a strange mix of letters and/or numbers, but the emails look like real emails, with a ticked consent box. Are these spam, or is there something weird that I need to fix so names come through correctly?

Here’s an example of what I’m talking about (I removed the email though, just in case it’s someone’s real one)

Name:
AqpUdTSlyC

Email:
[email protected]

Consent:
Yes

  1. One of my clients got hit with something like this recently – dozens of very real looking @yahoo.com and @msn.com addresses, all around the same time, so was fairly easy to clean out. Definitely spam.
