Hey, experienced developer, but very new WordPress developer.
I have inherited a custom site. It has some templates that have some sort of dashboard support. When I edit a page using that template, I see something like this:

So I copied one of those pages, changed the header to create a new template, thus creating a new template. When I create a new page, I can select the new template, but I don’t see something like the above in the new page with the new template. Instead, I see this:
I want to basically create (and then of course modify) the template for the first image, and see the same thing in the second image fo the new page.
Hope that makes sense.
Appreciate any help anyone can give me. I can post the pages PHP code if need be….
