Creating a 100% width otter block section

No matter what I do I just cannot get a section to span the whole width of my website.

In the Neve theme I am using I do see some section blocks already in the theme that span 100%. But when I try to mimic them with a new block of my own it spans only 50% of the site and its centered.

I tried setting max content with to 100%. I tried playing with padding (when setting left and right to 50% it actually did go full width in the preview window but when I look at the website nothing changes).

I would really appreciate help on how to fix this.
