Creating “List” Pages based on category / tag of individual page

[ad_1]

Howdy Folks! Very new to WordPress and web design in general here; loving WP so far and figuring it out nicely but I’m left with one “function” I can’t quite figure out (or even figure out IF it’s a function, something I have to go into more advanced CSS/HTML to create, or if it’s even a thing that exists).

Essentially, I’m creating pages where, for lack of better word, each page corresponds to what I’ll call an “Event”. These events will be categorized into various classifications – let’s say (to keep within my NDA) – “Deliverable”, “Assessment”, “Internal Review”, etc. They will each have a main page title which will correspond to the main “goal” of that event, details / expectations of what needs to be accomplished, a start date, and an end date.

I’d like to be able to create pages that automatically pull lists of those events by category, sorted by either start date or end date. I’m struggling to put into words (maybe because it’s so easy I’m overlooking something) exactly what I’m trying to do, so I added kind of a “mock” below. Basically if I tag the page “Internal Assessments – Client Name” I’d like to have a page that lists all the documents with that tag, sorted by one of the two dates. And preferably, not have to update that page each time I add a new page that would meet said criteria.

I know I could accomplish this using something like an Excel spreadsheet with fixed filters, but that would mean I’d have to remember to both create the page and then add it to the master sheet – plus it’d not look as nice. 🙂 I’m super finance / audit focused most days (hence my immediate desire to turn to Excel), and kind of got volunteered into this one, so any suggestions would be appreciated as to how I could accomplish this / any plugins I could try out. Thanks!
