Custom login form in header, don’t want users to go to wp-login.php

I apologize if this has been asked before. I’ve honestly been searching and searching and can’t find an answer.

I made a custom login form in my header that can be used on any page. The form doesn’t POST the information anywhere yet, because I’m not certain how to take the form data and log the user in. I want users to avoid the premade wp-login.php altogether.

Is there a simple guide online to achieve this?
