Custom Objects / Post Types Advice

Hi I have a blog that keeps track of books, comic books, toys, etc. for different topics, IPs, genres, etc.

For example I might post blogs about product announcements from a convention or "Every >>INSERT IP<< Book coming out in 2024."

I'm looking for a tool that can allow me to create custom posts or objects with set fields that I can fill out for each product. For example, if a new comic book series is announced I'd like to be able to fill in Title, Author, Artist, On Sale Date, Description, Links, Cover Art Gallery, etc. and then add it to certain blogs, pages, or lists using a shortcode or something similar.

My hope is to speed up the process of adding new items to the site and have the custom posts/objects function similar to global elements so if the publication or on sale date changes I can update it in one spot and have the change reflected on all pages that item exists.

Anyone have a suggestion?

I was thinking something like toolset but, while I've built plenty of websites, im far from an expert on this kind of thing and I am not a developer.

Hope all that made sense.

  1. I feel like you could do this with Advanced Customer Fields on one post type vs. having many post types.

  2. ACF.

Add a single custom post type called products or publication (or something general like that that can cover comics, books, etc, unless you want to create a whole cot for each thing, but I wouldn’t recommend that)

Then write yourself a short code that can pull in that post’s info. Or use ACF relationship field.
