We will publish the fix on next release. For now the template works on main template only. There is a fix specific for customer template that we also need to publish.

I am using divi. No result when I paste the templates into divi//woocommerce/emails
If I activate main divi theme it tells me to paste customer-order-status-email.php there, but nothing about my custom templates customer-order-status-email-customslug.php
Please, try rename your file from customer-order-status-email-customslug.php to admin-order-status-email-customslug.php (only for this specific status), we already fixed for next ralease
You can keep using the child theme, the current version is just looking to the main theme instead (fix also available on next update).

Same problem with the admin template. Maybe an issue with another plugin…
I finally worked on the additionnal content metabox. Moved it under the header et allowed. So now I can manage each email content without custom templates.
