I was just given an offer for a position that will be solely in charge of a large multi-site WordPress site built on a custom theme. The site is currently run by an agency and will be handed over to me for custom development. Agency contract will come to an end when I take over.
They do not have a test/stage site, no documentation as to when users make updates to the site, and have a solid amount of design/development requests. Lots of work but sounds very exciting to me.
I have very little experience with developing PHP but have built custom applications using React, Angular, JS/TS, HTML, CSS, etc. that have been used for large healthcare enterprises.
I am currently enrolled in Brad Schiff’s WordPress Developer Udemy course and have found the concepts to be pretty easy, especially compared to some of the coding I’ve done in the past. I have very little WordPress knowledge but have been learning fast so far.
Am I being delusional? In your experience, how long did it take to become comfortable/confident with custom WP development?
