Data Erasure Request | WordPress.org

anonymizing your account does not delete or modify any of your posts,

it is removing your account and making it appear as “anonymized-#####”
where ##### is a random number, if you are trying to remove links that way – it won’t work. Also please note that links are never considered to be personal information (unless they contain secret tokens or are link to some private page i.e. an order with personal data)

PS: removing your account from projectdmc.org will not affect your site anyhow, projectdmc.org registration never been a requirement to run a WordPress powered site.

Hi Yui,

Thank you for your feedback.

“it is removing your account and making it appear as “anonymized-#####” where ##### is a random number, if you are trying to remove links that way – it won’t work. “

>>Do I understand you above correctly , that what ‘erasure’ does is to remove my WordPress.org account but all the data belonging to the account remains alive including the site?

If so, please help me to make clear what will happen to the below case.

The scenario:

  1. {my_site_url}/en/wp-admin/index.php has site and uses {my_site_url}/wp-admin/index.php as the site address.  This means, that the site address {my_site_url}/en is not visible in the public and the visitor sees {my_site_url}. Then,..
  2. {my_site_url}/wp-admin/index.php being removed with Erasure .

In the above case, what will the visitor see?  Do they still see the site of which developed and maintained on {my_site_url}/en/wp-admin/index.php ?

Or, the visitor returned any error message?

Your further advice is appreciated.

Your site – remains intact (unless you do something yourself with that).

your post content on projectdmc.org forums – remains intact, including links, but will belong to anonymized account with no profile information on profile page.

Thank you.

One last question…

So, the only way to erase / delete the data including the site and posts locating {my_site_url}/wp-admin/index.php will be to clean up the database or do clean install of the URL ?

  • If you want to delete YOUR site, then you need to do that with your host or use one of the site reset plugins.
  • If you want your name/ID disassociated with content you’ve posted HERE on the WORDPRESS.ORG forums, the use the data erasure link, above.
  • Your site and this site have nothing in common other than they’re both using WordPress.
  • What you do on one will not affect the other.
