I made changes to a post’s title and the category it belonged to, which resulted in it splitting into a separate URL on Google.
The old URL still appears in the search results, but it automatically redirects to the new URL. Should I use the removal tool in GSC to remove the old URL, even though it’s only temporary or is there a better way?

It will get removed from Google’s index at some point, once Google sees that the old URL is 301-ing to the new one. You don’t need to do anything.
