Dealing with unknown IPs crawling site

[ad_1]

I’m using both Wordrence and SiteGround Security to monitor our site, because we feel like our analytics are often…off. Lots of times, we see a visitor visiting a page on the site that they really shouldn’t have access to. Then I’ll look into it, and see a hundred hits on our site from something like “[internetvikings.com](https://internetvikings.com)” or some other crawler.

I’m a little confused, because I thought that using plugins like Wordfence was supposed to prevent these types of visitors. Could I have a plugin that’s drawing crawlers to the site? I think I’d have to Google each plugin to see if anyone’s had issues with them to find out if that’s the case, but it becomes tiresome after a while.

I just want our numbers and analytics to reflect what’s going with the site, but then we’ll get a ton of hits from some random town in Virginia or New York, and it’s pretty obvious it’s some kind of bot. Is there really any way to avoid this completely?

  1. Do not worry about the individual IPs. EVERYONE know where your login page and your page page are. Unless you changed the login page (/wp-login.php)…it is there.

    Many people us VPN.

Do you have the web address on your social media profiles?

I am going to be honest, if you e-mail me from [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) I am going to check [paintacct624.com]) and you are going to get a visit from Canada.

Other random addresses could be typos.
