Developer to WordPress

I am a web developer that specializes in mostly backend. Experienced in api integrations, angular and Microsoft sql server. I am currently looking at trying to get some side work going and I am considering trying to do my front end stuff with WordPress since my front end design is much weaker than my backend skills.

I basically just want to use WordPress to expedite creating nice pages and then handle the backend with custom code when needed.

I am sure this is possible but is this an efficient way to approach this? Also, where would be a good place to get started for a web dev looking to learn word press. I see lots of tutorials online and have started watching some but any direction would be much appreciated.

Thanks a ton!

  1. I do both, and i’m probably equally as good at both. I find they go hand in hand once you get deeper. They can complement each other or they can fight each other, gotta find what works with how you choose to architect the backend, It’s a constant tweaking game

Can you provide examples of what you mean here? WordPress does a lot of stuff in the backend. What are you wanting to do exactly?
