Did a dumb thing, accidentally deleted web page.

Hi Reddit, I made a dumb mistake just now. I work for a small business that desperately needed an update to their website. We’re talking 5-10 years since there was an update, and their entire business model has changed since then.

I have my own personal website for a side gig where I use squarespace, so I was pretty blindly confident that I would know what I was doing with a WordPress website.

I wanted to delete several pages of outdated information about our business, but somehow, I apparently deleted everything. I have no idea how backing up website information with WordPress works, and nobody currently works here that has any idea.

I now get a HTTP Error 500 when I try to access our login page or the site itself. I’ve only been at this job for about five months, so that’s an embarrassing mistake to make. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Help would be appreciated.

  1. Deleting pages won’t cause a 500 error. What did you actually delete? You can see the actual error by looking at the php or apache log files.
