I’m working with a web dev on a [wordpress.org](https://wordpress.org) site.
They are telling me the site cannot feature a widget like **option to translate blog posts and articles**. Instead, they would need to manually translate everything moving forward since we can’t afford Translate Press.
They are also telling me that **alt text for low-vision readers** is an incredibly difficult task that would require completely refreshing every image on the website. I just wanted to use alt-text on images moving forward, but they says this requires some back-end adjustment that would mess with all images for the past 10+ years.
Is this true?
TIA.

Your dev is being difficult or lazy.
I think there’s a Google option to auto-translate a site.
Alt-text just requires going through your media library and adding the text. It’ll get picked up as each article gets served.
They’re bullshitting you as was already mentioned. Shame on them.
Dump them
