Hey! Currently, I have a Patreon and am in the process of creating a WordPress membership site which could be an alternative for my audience. I have a lot of Patreon posts with files attached to them for the patron to download and I’d like to move it all over to my website so that all files are in a single place.
Currently, I’m using Download Monitor for managing downloads. This allows me to lock downloads to specific user roles and prevent people from directly downloading the file from just the link.
They have an option called “Prevent hotlinking”, which seems like a possible solution. If I could whitelist the Patreon domain for this option, it’d work.
You might be wondering why I would rather that rather than have people log in to my site with their Patreon. I feel like that would be negatively affecting my patrons’ experience. If they subscribe to the Patreon, they probably expect the downloadable files to be there and not have to login another site.
