Im looking for a program or plug in to help me build a directory website. It will be for a specific niche but with various categories search options.
Can anyone recommend a directory plug in or program they have used and has had great results.
Hoping I can find one that is free but I understand and have no problem paying for a plug in that will make it easier to create this site. For any paid plug in if there is a trial option to be able to test out all the features even for a short period of time please also mention that. Really would like to test out all the features before purchasing it and wasting time and money on it.
I already tried one and spent some time learning it but it doesn’t seem like it will work out in the long run.
The goal is for the directory to be able to scale without getting sluggish e.g. 30k-40K vendors listed and still run smooth. Allow the website to still load up fast.
**Categories:**
I want to be able to create multiple categories (not multiple directories) which can then be searched by from the search form on the home page.
Also allow a vendors Advertisement to be listed and found in multiple categories if they purchase that plan.
**Locations:**
Needs to be able to list different locations (cities, state) throughout the country and not be restricted to only one city as the directory will not be focused on one city or state.
**Search Results:**
Results need to be listed in columns instead of rows
Premium labeled advertisement be listed first or above Standard advertisements.
Be able to showcase a different image size depending on the package purchased instead of all one size images. E.g. Premium ad have a larger image size showcased then the image size showcased on standard Ad’s.
If say 20 or 30 listings are available under a specific category and city location have all of them be listed in rows by scrolling down the page.
**User Profiles:**
For Vendors: allow vendors to create an account so they can create/ list and purchase the advertising choice they select.
Allow the vendor to manage their advertisement on the website.
Have clear Log in and log out options.
For site users: Allow users of the website to be able to create a user account so they can post reviews on a vendor they found and received services from.
**Theme/Design:**
Looking for a plug in that does not restrict me to a specific design and allows me to design it my way using other third party themes.
Also for it not to have any of the Directory plug in companies branding visible anywhere
**Payment and Purchase options:**
Allow me to be able to create more than one option of advertisement
Option one option two option three
Company Name Company Name Company Name
Company Phone Company Phone Company Phone
Company Website Company Website
Listed in 3 categories Listed in 5 categories
Medium Company Image Large size Company Image
Etc..
Allow the vendor to select their choice and pay for the advertisement without any interaction needed from me for it to become active.
