Hey,
I’m trying to disable XML-RPC. I have WordFence installed and I ticked ‘ Disable XML-RPC Authentication’ however I believe manual attempts could still be attempted.
Most online guides suggest to add a line to my .htaccesss file to disable it. I was wondering, since I have access to cPanel, **can I simply just disable that XMLRPC extension from my PHP configuration instead?**

What makes you think that?
Xmlrpc is a file, not an extension. Block it either via htaccess or cloudflare firewall rule.
Of course they can still be *attempted*. You can delete the entire file and they could still attempt a million tines
